Semester Reflection As the semester started, I had set my mind that I was destined to achieve a lot. During the start of the semester, I had several difficulties writing English assignments especially in terms of grammar. During the first week of the semester, I sat down, organized my thoughts and comprehended that throughout the semester, I had to achieve all that I had planned for. As a student of English, I had planned that throughout the semester, I had to improve my skills as a scholar, writer and critical thinker. Now that the semester has ended, I can reflect all the semester activities to depict how my writing skills and critical thinking skills have drastically improved. I am now able to utilize descriptive words in my writings that are capable of creating a scenic imagination to the reader. I am also able to write a reported speech. These are writing skills that I gained after writing the paper on Obama’s acceptance speech. I believe that these are very critical skills that will help me throughout my entire course and even after my studies. Throughout the semester, I have gained skills necessary for understanding and utilizing logic while writing. I am now aware that for any writing to be scholarly, it must possess an introductory section, a body and a conclusion section. Further, I am now able to understand as well as utilize most of the basic techniques useful in pre-writing, revision and editing. Through writing the â€Å"downloading from torrents† paper, I acquired skills in word processing, sentence elements, and punctuation. Further, I developed some special skills in writing a website analysis which is a critical aspect in contemporary learning as argued by Flateby (p 182). As the semester folds, I believe that I have gained the prerequisite skills in writing and cr itical thinking. However, I need to improve much on some of the common problems in writing that seems to disturb me especially grammar. The Stranger was a fascinating book with a simple plot revolving around an average man. The protagonist and first person narrator was a man by the name of Meursault, a French man with little to no personal feeling about anything. He went about his life like an empty husk, shifting from one place to another. He felt no grief, sadness or even regret after his mother died; he only felt the physical inconvenience of sitting through the funeral and the heat of the sun during the funeral procession to the cemetery. Before and after the funeral, he more or less wandered with no direction. He went to work and performed day to day activities with the same apathetic disregard. He eventually went to a gathering down at the beach where he murdered a man that had been following his friend. He is sent to prison for the murder where he maintains the same detached indifference that he exhibited during the funeral. The lawyers hoped that he would plead self-defense, but he simply related the facts an d nothing more in his own defense. The book did a particularly good job of describing Meursault in a way that gave no real insight into his persona, yet let us know what he was like on an outside appearance. The rest of the characters were described in a manner that showed their personalities beneath the skin, a rather satisfying way of making a side character slightly more important than just being there for the sake of being there. With so many various religions represented throughout history and in our diverse cultures, there are various subjects, ideas, and themes depicted and repeated. Miner bring to the readers attention the odd rituals practiced in America that the normal citizen would not find strange at all. However, by presenting his essay in the this form he shows how strange American customs are from the view of someone in a different country. Question: Describe about the Business Microeconomics for Implict and Explict Costs. Answer: Explain the difference between implicit and explicit costs. Give two examples of when an explicit cost is different from an implicit cost. Implicit cost refers to the expense which has already been incurred but has not been recorded as a separate expense. Implicit costs are not incurred directly by the company meaning that they are implied as no cash payment is involved. On the other hand, explicit costs are expenses which have been incurred and explicitly recorded as a separate expense. Example explicit costs include the salaries and wages paid to the workers. This is different from an implicit cost where for example an owner of the business decides not to take any salary for services rendered. (Arnold, 2010). The second example of an explicit cost is the cost of advertising which is incurred by the company during product promotion. This cost is different from the cost incurred by the firm to pay the rent of the business owner. In your own words, explain the difference between accounting and economic profit. Accounting profit is determined by using the accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
